Angela Bassett: Leader Spy in "This Means War" Produced by Will Smith

Angela Bassett has joined the cast of director McG’s action/comedy This Means War, which already includes Chris Pine, Tom Hardy and Reese Witherspoon. Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment is producing.

The film centers on two best friends who also happen to be international spies who fall in love with the same woman and declare war on each other over her.

I’m sure, with the names I mentioned above, you can guess who’ll be playing what character. I’ll guarantee you that Angela Bassett certainly isn’t playing the woman at the center

No, she’ll be Pine’s and Hardy’s characters boss – a lifelong spy extremely dedicated to her job, so much that she has not much of a personal life.

So, in addition to her roles in the wedding comedy Jumping the Broom, Green Lantern, the ABC new ABC TV series, One Police Plaza, in which Angela will star as the first female police commissioner in New York, and now this new feature film, it looks like it’ll be a busy 2011 for Ms Bassett.

Good for her. Glad she’s getting work. And let’s not forget her directorial debut – an adaptation of Percival Everett’s Erasure, to be titled United States, which I suspect will be going into production next year.

You go Mrs. Bassett. I love seeing her in powerful movies.
