Eight clubgoers are suing Ibiza Nightclub (1222 First Street NE) claiming that security guards and off duty police officers handcuffed and detained them against their will. According to plaintiff’s lawyer Donald Temple, the party goers were detained due to an unpaid liquor bill.
One person claims that he was kidnapped and forced to withdrawal $690 from an ATM to pay the bill. He also claims that his friends were held hostage at Ibiza until he returned.
Although the nightclub has 16 owners, none of them could comment to reporters.
A cell phone video of one of the detainees show footage of one security guard saying, “Understand if you do not come up with the money, everybody is going to jail.”
