Kim Kardashian does Allure: Kim K trying to get past her Past
“The challenges of dating, gosh,” the 29-year-old reality star tells the September issue of Allure magazine. “Who would ever want to deal with a hectic schedule and not really [getting] to see someone that often? That’s the reality of my life right now, that I don’t have a lot of time.” “You know, it’s tough, but I’m totally fine on my own,” Kardashian tells Allure. “I’ve always been in a relationship. So it’s kind of refreshing to just do me 100% and not worry about, ‘Do I have to call this person when I get home?’ ” “Not my most proud moment,” she tells the magazine. “It was humiliating. But now let’s move on. Not that I don’t think it’s [no one's] business, but I think I’ve done a good job of replacing negative things with positive things.”
“It’s nothing that I regret – being on the cover of Playboy is very iconic,” she says. “I was like, ‘OK, I’m proud to do this and to show people that I don’t have to be stick-skinny to be looked at as a sex symbol, and to me that’s not what’s attractive anyway.’ So I was all for it, although I was very nervous.”
She continues, “After the fact, I said, ‘I wish I hadn’t done Playboy then’ – not that it’s something I wouldn’t do now, but because then I wasn’t in the best shape of my life. I lost about 15 pounds, and I feel so proud. I look back and say, ‘Oh, my God, I was so heavy then.’ If you look now, I’m so much skinnier; my face is so much slimmer; my whole stomach is defined. When I am in shape, I feel sexy,” says Kardashian, adding that she’s “obsessed” with laser hair removal because of her Armenian descent. “Arms, bikini, legs, underarms … my entire body is hairless,” she reveals.
Despite being voted “Most Likely to Meet Her Husband at the Million Man March” and “Most Likely to Lie About Her Ethnicity” in high school, Kardashian says she “loved Salma Hayek and Jennifer Lopez and very ethnic beauties” when she was a teen. “I loved Marilyn Monroe and Sophia Loren, and Elizabeth Taylor, I’d have to say, is one of my favorites,” she adds. Although she hopes to one day star in a sitcom, “maybe about a career woman,” Kardashian also has motherhood on her mind. “In five years I would hope to be settled down, have a baby or two,” Kardashian admits. “I always thought, ‘For sure, when I’m 30, I’ll have four kids like my mom.’ “

Dr. Laura to end her radio show
Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Embattled radio talk show host Dr. Laura Schlessinger announced Tuesday she will not renew her contract that is up at the end of the year, telling CNN's "Larry King Live" she wants to "regain my First Amendment rights."
Schlessinger, 63, has been under fire for using the N-word repeatedly during an on-air conversation with a caller last week.
In announcing her decision "not to do radio anymore" after being in the business for more than 30 years, Schlessinger said, "I want to be able to say what's on my mind and in my heart and what I think is helpful and useful without somebody getting angry or some special-interest group deciding this is a time to silence a voice of dissent."
National furor erupted when Schlessinger used the N-word 11 times in five minutes during a call August 10 with an African-American caller who was seeking advice on how to deal with racist comments from her white husband's friends and relatives. The conversation evolved into a discussion on whether it's appropriate to ever use the word, with Schlessinger arguing it's used on HBO and by black comedians.

Schlessinger apologized the following day, saying "I was attempting to make a philosophical point, and I articulated the N-word all the way out -- more than one time. And that was wrong. I'll say it again -- that was wrong."
While Schlessinger told King on Tuesday that she was still "regretful" over the incident, she said she feels her freedom of speech rights "have been usurped by angry, hateful groups who don't want to debate -- they want to eliminate."
"I decided it was time to move on to other venues where I could say my peace and not have to live in fear anymore," she said.
Schlessinger plans to expand her internet presence with her website.
"I'm not retiring. I'm not quitting," she said. "I feel energized actually, stronger and freer to say the things that I believe need to be said for people in this country."

Tashera explains WHY?
On criticism over choosing to stay with DMX
“In the beginning it used to bother me but then I would look at other people’s relationships and realized that the same people’s criticizing me are in even worse situations. I started realizing that I have to start living for me. I’m the only person that has to deal with this so I stopped letting it bother me. I just realized I have to do what I have to do for me and no one can understand because they’re not in the same situation so I just brush it off.”
On finding out about X’s cheating
“He had four other children out of our marriage and I didn’t know. I only found out about one, and it was the one in Maryland that was public. It was all over the news and I still was gonna try to make it work [but] after we did the show Soul of a Man, I guess the women felt some kind of way because he was doing a lot of paying child support behind my back and giving them money without me knowing anything. So once I came out in interviews saying this is my only daughter and this is my family I guess they started feeling some kind of way and they started sending lawyers and all these child support suits to my house and that wasn’t acceptable. I just felt like with the drugs, that in itself is mentally draining. I felt like since we’ve been together for so long I didn’t want to give up on him.”
On dating an industry dude
“This industry takes a specific kind of woman to even be with someone on his level. I’m starting to see that. After we separated, I stepped out of the box and I’m just like, how in the hell… It takes a lot of strength and security.”
On dealing with lawsuits and filing for bankruptcy
“X is being sued by several companies and I’m dealing with that because they were trying to take our house. They couldn’t get anything out of X so they put a lean on my house so we had to file for bankruptcy. In my reality show it shows me fighting for my house and filing for bankruptcy to keep my house because that’s the only thing that would stop it. I’m dealing with reality and it’s crazy. X is over in la la land. He’s in jail chilling, eating, rent free.”

Kenny Burns
For years the rap on Kenny Burns, the mysterious 37-year-old Atlanta resident, has gone something like this—people see him everywhere: At concerts, in boardrooms, disembarking private jets with an adult beverage in hand, at parties (especially at parties). He hangs with hip-hop superstars, leggy models, executives so fabulously wealthy and busy that their hair stylists do house calls. And yet few who know Kenny Burns and occupy his sphere of influence, which is considerable, actually know or understand what he does.
He works for nobody. He seems to work for everybody. He helped Akon land a record deal. He launched Wale’s career. He created a luxury clothing line called Ryan Kenny that put headliners like Jay-Z and Usher into bespoke shirts, popularizing the term “button up” in hip-hop circles. And on the occasion of his 35th birthday in 2007, Burns spent an entire weekend celebrating at the Versace Mansion with some of his closest friends–and got Belvedere to foot the bill.
For the uninitiated, Burns is…one of those rare, socially-gifted individuals who–with the unique ability to traverse a diverse range of social circles, and a keen eye for recognizing the potential for meaningful interactions–brings people together to make things happen. He is a dream merchant who brokers deals on Madison Ave…yet never loses cool points at the local barbershop. And just as Harlem Renaissance artists, businessmen, activists, and politicians appropriated the term “New Negro” to challenge conventional notions of black identity, Burns represents a cooler offspring: “The New Black,” a cultural armor defining a new space of creative expression and personal agency.
When I asked Burns to plainly define his profession, he broke it down for me saying, “I am a facilitator. I bring people together. I connect the dots.”
As a 19-year-old college freshman at Morris Brown University, Burns became one of the city’s most heralded party promoters, introducing unknown artists like Notorious B.I.G. to Atlanta. He helped launch Monica’s career. He moved to New York and learned about the record business from Uptown Records founder and Motown scion Andre Harrell. He ran Roc-A-Fella’s street promotions team in the wake of Jay-Z’s landmark release, Reasonable Doubt.
Along the way, Burns collected contacts. No introduction was insignificant. No business opportunity went unexplored. He did favors, stacked I.O.Us., and steadily rose through the ranks, becoming a Vice President of Mariah Carey’s Monarch Music, and then Roc-A-Fella, where he mentored the label’s impressive stable of young artists, including Kanye West.
The ability to float seamlessly from one circle to another, bring people together, and help them make deals is the Connector’s bread and butter. But there comes a time when every connector has an opportunity to step out of the shadows and become a visible, clout-wielding player. When the weight and gravity of their relationships makes them as grand as the people they’re connecting. Burns leveraged his relationships and experience and charm and distinct personal style—the very talents that made him an effective facilitator—and has become something else entirely: A brand. He has become a “lifestyle specialist.” His persona, cultural fluidity, and deep insider status have led companies like Axe/Unilever and Heineken to depend on Burns to help them market their products. He’s launched his own online radio program, The Kenny Burns Show and has hosted BET’s Black Poker Stars Invitational. He’s also the subject of B.U.R.N.S. (Be Ultimately Realistic & Never Sell out), a documentary set for release this summer. “If I had to break Kenny Burns down to brass tacks, I’d put it into once sentence,” he tells me. “I make it happen.”
