Women Entrepreneurs: Top Five Tips for Empowerment

Women Entrepreneurs: Top 5 Tips for Empowerment

The power of women entrepreneurs is being ferociously studied today. The number of focused studies and the amount of activity to study is testament to the old line: 'Necessity is the mother of invention'.

If you are considering joining this 'force-be-reckoned-with', take personal inventory first. If you find that you possess most of the top five tips for empowerment identified here, you have what it takes to join the ranks of successful women entrepreneurs. You have no choice - go forth and venture.

1. Faith. The most compelling force revealed by the surveys as the core of women's success was 'faith.' Faith refers to belief in a higher power, accountability to a higher purpose, strong ethical values, a moral system that embraces charity, compassion and kindness. Above all, faith encompasses a genuine commitment to help others.

Faith also supports quicker healing when that knee gets scraped on the business highway. Faith gets you to pick yourself up faster and feel secure that you will navigate that obstacle better next time.

2. Decisiveness. Business requires choices. If you are wishy-washy and belabor every option, you waste time and opportunity, two assets that should never be marginalized. Women entrepreneurs make informed choices.

You got started because you made a choice: You decided that you have the right to be the happiest, most successful, healthiest individual you can be. Once that choice was made, the gauntlet was thrown, you are compelled to proceed - with decisive action.

3. Balance. While it can be a struggle, the value you place on your family and time with your family is resolute. You prioritize everything else on your schedule accordingly. Jackie Kennedy said: " If you bungle raising your children, it doesn't matter what else you were successful at." She said it best.

4. Networking. You know your limitations and can ask for help when needed. You delegate tasks when appropriate. When you need expertise in uncharted territory, you seek it, through online participation in forums, asking connections you've already made and through off line community connections.

5. Principles. You study. You don't re-create the wheel. Duplicating success is just fine. You learn what works and apply it with your own special eclat. One principle, among others, you embrace is: Desire + Action = Success.
